Home of research and experimentation during INTERIEUR 2016
The industrial building VLASKAAI, located next to the Texture Museum and the North Bridge, is the home of research and experimentation during INTERIEUR 2016.
A series of interventions will take place:
Two Dutch (TUDelft & KABK Den Haag) and three Belgian (KU Leuven, UHasselt and UAntwerpen) architecture schools join forces and bring a performative installation entitled ‘Schoonheid, Schaarste en Gemeenschap’, which translates as ‘Beauty, Scarcity and Community’.
The same three Belgian universities also add the discussion “What is the Future of Interiors Education” to the programme. It translates into an installation, a machine thats allows visitors to look at the system of relationships between digital and physical, interior and exterior, commercial and theoretical.
Further Vlaskaai highlights include:
Villa Noailles - the hotspot for fashion, art and design in Hyères in Southeastern France -brings the work of the Grand Prize winner of the 10th Design Parade: designer Samy Rio.
The Maarten Van Severen foundation is present with the results of its first chair, together with designer Erwan Bouroullec.
Finally, Biennale Interieur will construct the Juice & Beer Bar, a concept by Yesmine Sliman Lawton and Perrine Poncelet from Mons (BE), which received a honorable mention at the Interieur Awards 2016. It proves the Biennale's dedication to promote stunning bar designs. The Juice Bar will serve fresh juices and will also serve the best Belgian Beers from Omer Vander Ghinste in a relaxing setting with good vibes. Special thanks to Ferm Living, Beltrami, Potier Stone and Sammode.
