Interieur Design Awards 2012

A COMPETITION ON THE LIVING ENVIRONMENT WITH 2 CATEGORIES

The INTERIEUR 2012 Design Awards concentrates on our living environment. Our habitat - whether or not it is an object or a space - takes a central place in this year's competition. Objects that help us improve daily life. Spaces where you can live, survive or lodge. The renewed awards aims at two categories : an object and a space.

Category object: Do you have a new object that is relevant to the living environment? We are looking for objects that help us improve daily live. Objects that influence our living habits and than can change our way of living in a better way.

Category space *: This category is inspired by the manifest of Bruno Vermeersch. Do you know how tomorrow's living space looks like? We are looking for 30m² space proposals of small living units. We invite young architects, designers and artists to capture the essence of living within the future world and to translate their vision in a small experimental living space.

* Belgian zoning regulations stipulate that a structure up to 30m² (in some cases even 40m²) built within a radius of 30 metres of a legally approved structure, can be built without an architect or building permit. This regulation - covering porches, carports and garden houses - was initially implemented to leave authorities free to concentrate on more important matters. Knowing that an ordinary student room covers 20m², a basic hotelroom messures 26 m², a sunday dining room 28 m², or an average woodworkshop 30 m², this zoning regulation opens up potential constructions.
